Sometimes Apple is infuriating. Mostly I want to snorgle Apple and pet Apple and make Apple go squee, I'll admit, but then I think about their stupid batteries. I've had a Nano for a few years (OK, I don't rightly know how old it is...but not THAT old)(see left) and now it's unable to maintain a charge for any respectable amount of time. I'd just forget about it and chalk it up to a quirk of those crazy kids in Cupertino (I'd do that, not because I'm magnanimous, but because I also have the Shuffle to work out with) only I need a Nano for the Nike+ system to record my runs and upload them to the large and powerful web. Hence the BLARG. I have to charge it after EVERY run now. Do they replace batteries? Is it worth the hassle? Or should I suck it up and buy a new one? Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated.

alas I am no help
I still find these things suspicious; best to throw them out the window.

Or buy new and RECYCLE the old, right?

I have an old ipod. It, too, reached a point where the battery couldn't hold a charge. Fucking apple wanted something obscene like $100 and then what they do is rather than replace the battery, they send you a DIFFERENT, reconditioned device. So all your shit's gone.

What I did was just buy a new battery off the internet and install it myself. There are TONS of companies out there selling replacement ipod batteries for all models. Get one from a company that says it includes detailed instructions on how to install it. It's not hard. I managed it.

That's what she said.

Thanks for the info, CB, but there's no way I'm busting that thing open.

I've been secretly wishing that this would happen to my nano so I'd have an excuse to get a new one. The one I have is only 4G and won't fit any more music on it.

On a related note, I had it on shuffle today while I was painting the shop, and when the Femmes came on, I totally thought of you. Is that weird?

Is it weird that I consider "Blister In The Sun" our song now, Susie?
