Everyone adores you! What an awful thing.

Remember when I raved about the Broadway revival of Company last year? PBS is airing a recording of it tonight. The production was directed by John Doyle, and he used the same conceit of actors doubling as orchestra that he employed with the Sweeney Todd revival a few years ago. Reviews were mixed, but I was enthralled. You'll never please everyone, so why even try? For me, this one is ALL ABOUT the songs anyway, so go ahead and dispense with the sets. Of course it may all fall apart on a small screen without the THEATER atmosphere. I'll be tuned in to see. Or my TiVo will, anyway.

ADDED: Speaking of Sondheim, I'd love to see the London revival of Sunday in the Park with George, now transplanted to Broadway for a limited run. I think it ends in May, which doesn't leave much time. Rats!

I saw a recording of the Bernadette Peters/Mandy Patinkin version many years ago (at the time I was watching because Brent Spiner was in it -- I'm a geek) and I've never forgotten that scene where the painting comes alive. I think I might have an ancient VHS recording of it...somewhere....

I don't think I'd miss the set. Company is the kind of show where I like the music without really knowing the story.

and how was the showing of Company? I saw this version in Cincy before it went to broadway. I thought it was wonderful.

Sherri, I want to see it so bad, but I have 10 days off for skiing next month, and the show is only running until May. Bernadette Peters!? Goosebumps.

FP, the music, the music, the music. I've watched it three times already.

Knitting, so jealous. I meant to catch it there (I'm about an hour north), but didn't make it. I saw it on Broadway on the same day I caught a matinee of Grey Gardens. Whew! How's that for a Showtune Queen for a Day?
