The roads were terrible this weekend with the winter storm. Snow, then rain, then freezing rain, then snow again. And blowing. No Sweeney Todd! I had cabin fever already by Sunday afternoon, so I dug out my driveway and decided to go my gym. I got there, and it was closed. Of course, I could have easily discovered that if I'd only called ahead. So I bought another paper (because the Sunday Chicago Tribune is bound to have WAY different news than the Dayton Daily, right?) and a bottle of wine and went home.
Today, I am a grumpy bear.

And I was just going to complain because it's 30 degrees in Dallas. The thought of me shoveling snow makes me giggle, though.
I need to move South. Or West.
I just need to move.
Have you ever, Samuel? Shoveled, I mean.
Sounds like somebody's got a case of the Mondays!!!
Always worse when there was no discernible weekend.
Plus, I'm scheduled to work the day before AND the day after Christmas. Happy Holidays!
I'm sorry you missed your show! Damn weather. I was worried for my friends in PA and NJ - looked horrible there over the weekend.
I'm scheduled to work Christmas Eve and the 26th too - I could work Christmas too because we don't get paid holidays (yay stupid company!) but I decided one holiday is worth using the pto time for. Blah. We'll suffer together!
It's a blustery 62 today here. Brr. :)
We'll have to swap secrets and braid each other's hair on Christmas Eve, Maddie. Via email, of course.
62, eh? You're in mittens then?
Schools are canceled here today. Shouldn't everything be canceled then? I think.
::hibernates::
I haven't been here long enough for mittens (there are people walking around in fur coats today), but I put the long sleeves and long skirt on today. It's actually perfect for sleeping, mid-40s at night. After 8 months of humid air outside and air conditioning, it feels nice to breathe fresh cool air again.
I firmly believe that if schools are off, we should be too.
I'm not sure I can join this conversation without making myself the target of some misplaced anger, because you know, "Summer" and "Christmas through to New Year holiday".
Don't hate me.
Last night it was so windy here, and our bedroom windows are not properly sealed...I could have flown a kite in that room. It should not be windy inside the house.
Andrew, we'll just gloat next July while you're freezing your aussie ass off.
maddie, 62? My sister (in Venice) must be freaking out. She can barely tolerate temperatures below 75. I still don't understand how she lived in Michigan for six years.
I've shoveled many, many things, Michael. Occasionally snow will stick here, but then it'll melt slightly during the day and overnight becomes a thick layer of ice, shutting the entire metro area down. So no, I've never had to shovel snow. I've never seen a quantity that would even constitute shoveling.
But for what it's worth, I want to. Just temporarily.
fg - she must be freezing then, especially at night. I'm about 20 minutes south of Venice - it was in the low 40s, this morning in Tampa there was a wind chill that made it feel like it was in the 30s. It feels funny to talk like that about cool weather, because I feel like I just moved out of PA, which is now covered in snow. But, up until Saturday, highs were in the mid 80s. Really can't complain, though. :)
When we were down there in February, it was soooo cold. I hated it. I don't know if it's the moisture level in the air or what, but when it's cold in Florida, it chills me down to my bones!
I've always thought of you as a cub, rather than a bear.
