That change will do you good

By now most of you will have heard about the recent change of heart San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders had regarding gay marriage. I read about it. I was happy to hear it. Before ever watching the video, I said to some people that I just wish folks like Mr. Sanders could see the necessity of equality without having it affect them personally. His daughter is queer. But after having watched this video, and being deeply moved by his well-spoken and heartfelt statement, all I want is to congratulate Mr. Sanders (think he'd let me hug him?) and to be appreciative of whatever path takes him or anyone toward reason and equality. That is riveting. A politician evolving before our very eyes. You can tell that he really had to do some soul-searching and for the first time, I think it made me feel how hard it is for some people to get to the right place.
