Summer came like cinnamon, so sweet

It's that time again, folks. Flora From The Fagala. Enjoy!I didn't even plant these petunias. A few years ago I was caught up in the WAVE petunia craze, and somehow these came up of their own volition this year. Now they are mounded around my mailbox (dirty!).
This is an early Sunday morning shot of the Rose of Sharon bushes. The ones I planted in homage to my very teensy and very dead Grandma, remember? Not enough light in the shot, but I'm really liking it that way.
If you were visiting, these Blackeyed Susans would be right outside your window in the guest room. I'm not sure what the name of the other perennial is. I brought it over from my first house where it had been when I moved in. Oh, who am I kidding? If you were visiting, you'd so be sleeping in my bed, right? Posted by Picasa

LOVELY!

Tell me how to take care of the flowers I inherited, huh? My hydrangeas look like they've had it...should they be deadheaded or should I just let them go? I have zinnias, too, I think. And some other ones that I'm not sure about; I will have to wait til spring when they bloom again.

Opinions differ, but I would deadhead the hydrangea. I think the plant ends up more full the next year.

Thanks for the LOVELY.

They ARE lovely. I have an small area in my backyard that I want to put wildflowers around; especially the blackeyed susans. So pretty and happy!

I think I will deadhead the hydrangeas at the end of summer...before frost. Unless I change my mind. :) When do they bloom? They were on their last legs when we moved in but I wasn't sure if it was because of the thousand-degree heat.

Deadheading won't ever hurt, but be careful about pruning back too much. I think that some of them bloom on this year's growth and some on next year's, so if you have the former and prune it too far back, no flowers next year. You're smart to wait and see what happens next year. If it blooms early, then only prune it shortly after (like with lilacs).

Oh, and Black-eyed Susans ARE happy AND easy (nice combo). I didn't realize how much these would spread, but I find I have to take them back at times and even pull them out of places where I don't want them.

Dude, do you even need to ask moi that question? Of course I am sleepin' in your bed, and maybe even serenading ya with something ... like ....

With an ironclad fist I wake up and
French kiss the morning
While some marching band keeps
its own beat in my head
While we're talking
About all of the things that I long to believe
About love and the truth and
what you mean to me
And the truth is baby you're all that I need

I want to lay you down on a bed of roses
For tonite I sleep on a bed on nails
I want to be just as close as the Holy Ghost is
And lay you down on bed of roses

Well I'm so far away
That each step that I take is on my way home
A king's ransom in dimes I'd given each night
Just to see through this payphone
Still I run out of time
Or it's hard to get through
Till the bird on the wire flies me back to you
I'll just close my eyes and whisper,
baby blind love is true

I want to lay you down on a bed of roses
For tonite I sleep on a bed on nails
I want to be just as close as the Holy Ghost is
And lay you down on bed of roses...

I think that the plants next to the "susans" are actually Tithonia...great photos !

Yeah, what FG asked. And who do I have to blow to get a piece of pie around here?
