I was just taking my twice daily vitamin regimen and it made me wonder if I do more or less than the average Joe/Mary, supplement wise. I've never polled the
Pipedreams community before, and this might be a boring topic to start with, but I'm really curious about what you take. I'll go first. I do all these twice daily with food for better absorption:
- Multi-vitamin/mineral- to cover my dietary deficiencies
- Glucosamine/Chondroitin- to maintain my joints
- Kyolic aged garlic- cardio-vascular health
- Omega-3 fatty acids- c-v health, among other benefits
Does that seem like alot? Do you believe in taking supplements at all? I'm not completely convinced of the benefits of all of them, and I try to get my nutrients from foods as much as possible. I have reached this ripe old age with no need for any prescription meds (damn, did I say that out loud? here come the afflictions), so there's that. I know my boy

I'm taking
- Mega B (it says 'Executive Stress B' on the label, makes me feel mucho importante)
- Galic/Horseradish/VitaminC combo (for sinus)
- Fish oil
- Cholestatrim (a natural cholesterol lowering thing made from red yeast or something)
- A joint care tablet (similar to yours I guess, for the ageing knees)
- Plus a sinus care herbs mixture my naturopath makes up, that tastes like ass.
Most of it is to do with cardiac health and my ongoing sinus infections. It's fun to be me! Sure I rattle if I run, but my health has improved incredibly.
Every morning I have:
- a women's multivitamin
- a calcium supplement with magnesium
- a cayenne pepper capsule
If I'm feeling ugh, I'll also take a B-complex. I also sometimes take the glucosamine, but only if my joints have been bothering me.
After dinner daily I take: primadophilus bifidus (acidophilus), d3, folic acid, selenium, potassium, 1000mg of c and a calcium/mag/zinc combo.

freakgirl, I used to take the Multi-B like you (and Andrew), but I got away from it and I'm not sure why. It does give you a boost and the B's are burned off quickly when under stress. My grandma (rest her soul) used to go into the doctor every few months and have B mainlined.
jen, acidophilus is another good one that I should still take. I've been doing the new Dannon product Activia, which has probiotics, mostly because it's free for me (I have an "associate" on the inside). http://www.activia.com/
May be sad, but I didn't even know that song wasn't an original Vitamin C.
The acidophilus is essential for me to keep nausea at bay. (It's a symptom of the adrenal disease, I think, but it's hard to tell which symptoms come from which diseases anymore, bleh.)
The video for the version by the Waitresses was in constant rotation on MTV during the early 80s, lo in the days of yore.
I don't think the trailer park had cable yet back then.
Acidophilus is also really good for cats, btw. :)

I fear the Neti, but I love my saline and eucalyptus nasal spray. This is getting a bit icky now, isn't it?
Icky? Nah. I heart a tidy orifice.
The only icky thing about the neti is that if you don't tilt your head just right, whether or not you're grinning like the lady demonstrates, then some of the neti fluids drool out your mouth.

Okay. I take nothing. No vitamin supplements at all. Then one day my doctor tossed out that 'Centrum silver' was good for men my age.
My new doctor is really nice.
At the risk of sharing afflictions, I sometimes take a calcium supplement (but always buy versions of stuff with extra calcium instead) and regularly use Vegemite (for B vitamins). More tasty than your average pill, sugar coated or otherwise.
Vegemite! I MUST try that stuff (of legend) some time.
