A big thing or a small, the winner takes it all

OK, OK, if you insist. Here, for your perusal, are my Oscar picks (the ones I loved):

Lead Actor: Joaquin Phoenix. I saw four of the five nominated performances and man were they all phenomenal, but brotha Joaquin laid it down.

Supporting Actor: Jake Gyllenhaal. I know what you're thinking, but I'm being serious. I know Heath has the buzz, but I felt this performance.

Lead Actress: Keira Knightley. I loves me some Judi Dench, period, and Reese Witherspoon as June Carter Cash will charm the shine right off your shoes, but Keira, Miss Knightley if you're nasty, was phenomenal. She acted her face off (and bewitched me, body and soul).

Supporting Actress: Catherine Keener. I only saw two of these performances so I'm going with Cathy Kee as Harper Lee.

Director: Ang Lee. Seriously, put aside all the hoopla and this is an amazingly well done movie from the way it looked to the way it moved to the way it moved you. A bit if genius, I think.

Original Song: Travelin' Thru by Dolly Parton. Duh.

Motion Picture: Brokeback Mountain. I saw all these, save Crash, and I had real love for all of them. I think this is the best crop for the Academy in a while. I also don't think it should be a close race at all.

I love Oscar Time.

He's all green and grouchy, and lives in a trash-can. He's like monster trailer-trash, and I think he's really funny.

This comment was brought you to today by the letter q, and the number 69.

PS. Ernie is a shoe-in for best Original song with 'Rubber Ducky'.

I hope you read Web-Goddess Mikey, and have entered her Oscars quiz. The prize of two gay cowboy sock-monkeys is not to be sneezed at!

I want those monkeys!

I'm watching the Barbara Walters special now...mmmm...Patrick, George and Matthew in the SAME show. Yay!

I loooooove the Oscars time. No one is allowed to even call me once the red carpet stuff starts. I have my ballots laid out, ready to go. (D-O-R-K)

Do you have IFC? Best other awards show - Independent Spirit Awards - on Saturday night. Definitely fun to watch.

I linked to my Livejournal if you want to see my Oscar picks.

We should sing Oscar's song instead, B.

I love trash
Anything dirty or dingy or dusty
Anything ragged or rotten or rusty
Yes, I love trash

I used to have one of those Close N Plays to spin all the Sesame Street tunes. Check it out: http://tinyurl.com/p2hgk

Andrew, thanks to the Max's link, I have indeed thrown my hat in the ring at Web-Goddess. Gay cowboy sock-monkey-- there's not a word in there I don't love.

Maddie, I'm snooping around your journal. Yay! I don't get IFC, darnit, but I'm always interested to see who gets those awards. I have the same feeling as you about Catherine Keener. She was great in "Capote" but the role is so understated that I don't think she's really a contender.

Jake Gyllenhaal was Jack Twist. Sigh.

Who knows what kind of boring stuff you will find in my journal. ;)

Maybe Catherine will win at the awards on Sat. She seems to be more of a hit with the indie crowd anyway, which is probably the way she likes it.

You were off on all but for Best Director loL! But that's the Oscars for you.

And you should really watch Felicity Huffman in Transamerica. Wonderful, wonderful show (if a tad unfulfilling) with lotsa naked boy-butt action.

And I hate that Reese now has two trophys, one on her arm and one in her hands. Bitch.

Hey, I would have done much better picking who I thought WOULD win. Those are just who I thought SHOULD win.

I'm checking out "Transamerica", possibly this weekend.

Yeah, Reese had Ryan, an adorable family, she's cute as a button, she can charm the shine off your shoes and NOW the Oscar. I'll second that 'bitch'. Kinda like the sentiment Jon Stewart expressed re: La Clooney.
