I'm a puzzle, I must figure out where all my pieces fit

We all love Dolly, right? Her Travelin' Thru is nominated for an Academy Award and it's a free download on iTunes today. Go! She'll be singing it live on Sunday's Oscar telecast. Think she'll go understated with her gown selection?

I see LOTS of cowboy motifs at the Oscars this year... so maybe she'll amp up the C&W element and not go understated. Fringes. Pearl buttons. Emroidered roped steers and rearing broncos.

Just a thought.

She doesn't even have 'understated' in her quiver, does she? Does everyone love her as much as we do? I'm not so very celebrity obsessed, but I adore her.

I just want her to have everything as BIG as possible on Oscar night.

I think we love her so partly because she's a drag queen made woman.

She hearts The Gays, and we heart her right back.

Nice theory. It's a similar combination (acceptance/drag queen) that makes us love Karen Walker, isn't it?

I'm not talking about Dolly, but isn't it funny that if you even toss us a HINT of acceptance, a sidelong glance of it, we're following you around tongues out and tails wagging?

Yeah, colour us Pathetically Gratefull. :-) I think more than an issue of acceptance it's maybe more one of appreciation, someone who 'gets' us. Gets the camp archness, the love of each sparkle and each spangle, someone who sees things from a different angle.

Fortunately there's a lot more of those people in the world than we would sometimes give the world credit for. I mean, you just have to look at the comments on some of the blogs we frequent. There are soccer moms, internet geeks, good husbands, well adjusted dykes, you name it, who can mix it up with us but good. So much for the interweb making us all anti-social shut-ins huh?

Still I see myself lying in your arms
When I close my eyes at night
No complex conversation
Ooh to taste the comfort of strangers
