Time keeps on tickin', tickin', tickin' into the future
Are any of you watching 24? It's a great show, with the unusual combination of smart writing and non-stop action. It asks you to suspend disbelief a few times, but I do that on a daily basis at work, so I have no problem with it. I'm doing a lil' recap over at Too Much Free Time. If you're watching the show, why don't you drop in and get comment-y?One of the things I'm loving about this season is that much of it is being spent at President Logan's Weekend White House which is FABULOUSLY mid-century. I'm forever rewinding after being distracted by lamps and furnishing and fixtures. There's an interview with the set designer if you wanna check out more about the lighting and the doors and the fabrics and ummm why am I suddenly teapotting my hand on my hip?

This style would be smashing in a Palm Springs get-away home. But I'm more on the Casa Casurina scope of things here in Chicago. Yep.
I had to surf around to check out Casa Casurina. Nice. Nooice. I had a glimpse of your place on the first day I visited your blog-- the fabulous Christmas decoration photos. Your place looks gorgeous. I'm a big fan of the mid-century mod, but with less wood paneling than that "24" set. I mostly love the furniture. And the pendant lights. And the lamps.
And the Barcelona chair!!
Love it. And the lamps. Noguchi. Love'em.
Grey-green walls instead of panelling.
Ooh. ooh. go to surrounding.com and check the lighting. Foscarini. Oooh.
Ya know. I actually need new lighting. Actually. Need. Hmmmm.
Loving it. My only design classic (so far) is an Eileen Grey side table. A piece of pure Bauhaus-ian gorgeousness.
EXACTLY the walls I'm talking about, loulou. My bedroom has almost the right color....needs a little more green. I am seriously covetous of the Barcelona chair, esp. that rich dark caramel color (I think it's THE color for men's shoes now, no?). Going to surrounding.com now.
Oooh, Andrew. Cool. You're one piece of classic furniture is one more piece than I have.
I heart my side table sooooo much. Serious non-Buddhist attachment. Like so many Big Ticket items in my life, it was a gift from the lovely ex. It's the round chrome and glass one, with the adjustable height. Designed in the 30s.
I would love a Barcelona Chair, a Noguchi kidney shaped coffee table (I'm prepared to overlook my fear of glass topped coffee tables for a Noguchi), a Le Corbusier chaise, Werner Panton chairs for the patio... I could go on ALL DAY.
