But jack you'll never lack if you can quack like a duck

I was already on a Cole Porter bender since I picked up John Barrowman's CD the other week. I've always loved those songs, but John (and his HAWTTness) rekindled my interest. Check it out. He does some nice renditions of some classic CP. Well, then loulou (she of the lusciousness...for me she's inextricably linked to cashmere...could be worse, right?) decided to fan the flames by recommending De-Lovely, the Cole Porter movie starring Kevin Kline. Really good stuff. John Barrowman is also in this movie and there's a scene where Kline/Porter is coaching him on how to sing Night And Day and their eyes lock and it's kinda electric, guys. The soundtrack is also good, if only for Robbie Williams' version of the title song. Mmmmm, to hear him linger over 'delissshous' and I swear he smacks his lips around 'wedding cake'. I know he's straight, really I do, but he's very cheeky then, isn't he?
Ashley Judd is in the movie, but don't hold that against it.
Oh, and that lyric in the title is from Be A Clown. Love it.

You know how much I heart John Barrowman. Oddly, I haven't seen the film yet, must rectify that. I was flicking through the 'wedding' issue of the British gay mag "Attitude" the other day and there is a sweet pic of La Barrowman and his boyfriend. Boyfriend is cute too, natch. (They always seem to travel in pairs.) They haven't decided whether to tie the knot yet, but might.

Happy Valentine's Day!!

They do seem to travel in pairs, but I still want one of my own. It's a dream of mine to be the guy in a mismatch that people suspect of being either very witty or very rich or very hung.

Barrowman is teh HAWWT (holla freakgirl!)

PS I know you only need the smallest of nudges-- get the DVD! It's worth it for the soundtrack extra which prominently features our Robbie. Seeing the movie has colored how I listen to Cole Porter songs. He skirted a funny line, married to a woman who he seemed to deeply love, while also practicing the homosexualism. ;-)

Just to fuel the Barrowman lust...

I loved the movie - I actually saw it while on a cruise - I have to re-rent it because the sound wasn't great. I love Kevin Kline, and I think he did a great job as Porter - especially since he really can sing and dance, that added something.

Oh, FYI if you didn't know - Rent on dvd Feb 21 - 2 DISC set. Heaven! Between that and Grey's Anatomy out on dvd today, I'm going to be giving a lot of money to Target this month.

I'm falling in love with you a little bit, Maddie. ;-)
I have the RENT DVD on my Amazon wishlist, which is essentially me wishing I'll buy it for myself sooner rather than later. Can't wait. And in March I finally get SFU's final season! I've never had HBO so I've been consuming SFU a season at a time as the DVDs come out.

Yeah, Kevin Kline is very good in it. I ended up downloading the whole soundtrack (the only way you could get it on iTunes was to take the whole thing). I'm glad now. I'm having fun with 'Be A Clown' and 'Experiment' in my car. 'Experiment' takes on a different edge once you realize how Coley was fond of dabbling.

yaniboy, if I read correctly, the new Dr. Who is only just now going to be available here in the US. Can't wait. Thanks for the kindling.

I live in a cave?! I've not heard of this hot singer or seen this film. Does my 'club card' get a notch for 'disabled' or is it just immediately revoked?

PS - RE: outfit; "Die Poinsettia Die, Part Deux" The jacket is from H&M, a mid-size dept. store here geared towards disposable fashion. The shirt: vintage Claiborne; the most divoon grey silk with fabulous Indian embroidery. Jeans: Diesel flares. Belt: Valentino/Made in Italy.

Maybe since I used 'divoon' I can get my club card back?!

Michael ~ Just a little more off-topic: Of course you already have Rent on your wish list. I should have known.

I can't wait to hear what you think about the final SFU season. Especially the last episode! So you are a fan of tv dvds too? I own a few, that if my tv ever went out, I could entertain myself for weeks. I might need them if we get snowed in again.

MG,
Oh, I wanted to check out H&M on a trip last fall, but my sisters were dragging me around to places like ::gulps:: American Girl Place. It still haunts me. Thanks for the breakdown. I just can't figure ensembles. I tend more toward "I'll take everything on that mannequin" at Banana Republic. So, no worries about having your card revoked here.

Maddie, discussing RENT is ALWAYS on the table for us. You prolly already knew, but I did not know that Wilson Heredia is STR8?! That's good acting. If you wanna watch some clips (including your boi Anthony dancing down the table in "La Vie Boheme") go here: http://tinyurl.com/cam5e

I don't collect so many DVD's but I started on SFU and was hooked.

If anyone wants just a taste of La Barrowman (since he doesn't appear to be available for download except with the whole De-Lovely soundtrack), shoot me an email and I'd be happy to oblige.

Every time I see the ever shaggable Robbie wearing a black dinner suit and tie, I go all Elton John lyrics:

It's a little bit funny
this feeling inside

Kinds of make me wish I could have him as my date back during my Year 12 Farewell (think Prom, you non-Aussie's). Just like Brian did for Justin at the end of Season 1 Queer as Folk. We could dance like there was no tommorow. Have to get him a white silk scarf though, just like Brian, to finish off the outfit you understand.

That, and I could tie him down to the bed with it later ...

Ohhh, Speaking of Brian dancing with Justin in Queer as folk ... all you folks who are fans will know the song they danced too was 'Save the last Dance for me';

You can dance-every dance with the guy
Who gives you the eye,let him hold you tight
You can smile-every smile for the man
Who held your hand neath the candle light
But don't forget who's takin' you home
And in whose arms you're gonna be
So darlin' save the last dance for me

Oh I know that the musics fine
Like sparklin' wine,go and have your fun
Laugh and sing, but while we're apart
Don't give your heart to anyone
But don't forget who's takin' you home
And in whose arms you're gonna be
So darlin' save the last dance for me

Baby don't you know I love you so
Can't you feel it when we touch
I will never never let you go
I love you oh so much

You can dance,go and carry on
Till the night is gone
And it's time to go
If he asks if you're all alone
Can he take you home, you must tell him no
'Cause don't forget who's taking you home
And in whose arms you're gonna be
So darling, save the last dance for me

'Cause don't forget who's taking you home
And in whose arms you're gonna be
So darling, save the last dance for me
Save the last dance for me
Save the last dance for me

But moi being moi, when The Kid sent me the lyrics to this song a few years ago when Rabbit and I were in a 'relationship', I sent her my version back. We loved to go out clubbing, often still do. This is from October 2004 (gotta love those email archives)

You can love- every dance with the dude
Who dances like a fool, and looks really hot
You can smile, every smile for the Rabbit
That is a Bi-guy, but you are definately not
And don't forget your taking me home
and in my bed your gunna be
So Rabbit, spend a hot night with me.

Oh I know that the DJ's fine
Like my fab gay shirt, go and have some fun
I might dance! with lesbians, but while were apart
Don't give your heart to anyone
And don't forget your takin me home
and in my bed your gunna be
So Rabbit, spend a hot night with me

Dude don't you know I love you so
You can feel it when we touch
I won't let you get taken by a skanky Ho
I love you oh so much

So we can dance, go and carry on
Till the Red Bull is gone
and its time to go.
If they ask, if your all alone
can they take you home, say "bitch! fuck no!"
And don't forget your takin me home !
and in my bed your gunna be
So Rabbit, spend a hot night with me

Case don't forget your takin me home
and in my bed your gunna be
So Rabbit, spend a hot night with me
So Rabbit, wear those sexy boxers for me

The Kid loved it, even though she thought I was 'tragic'.

And no, I do not have issues. I am not, nor was I ever 'obsessed'

Shut-up, bitches.

Michael ~ thanks for the site link! I can't wait to get the dvds and watch the movie over and over! I can't believe there is also a full-length feature on Rent. Awesome. I did not know that Wilson Heredia was straight! I guess playing Angel on broadway and then after all that time, the movie, he should be convincing. :)

bodhi ~ ah, the glorious 1st season of QAF. That season finale episode was my favorite of the series - and the prom scene was my favorite scene of the series. Gorgeous Brian, that all-black suit, the white scarf, the spin, the kiss, the perfect perfect choice of song...mmm...I'm going to have to go watch it right now.

I liked the De-Lovely soundtrack! I don't know why it wasn't sucha hit. I loved Alanis' song in it, can't remember the name but I can remember "birds do it, bees do it..."

The Other Andrew said...

"...even educated fleas do it. Let's do it, let's fall in love!"

C'mon, let's!

$93.74cdn at Amazon.ca for the Doctor Who boxset.

13 episodes plus extras.

I'm trying to get my pal Nat to come see "The Producers" with Barrowman as a blonde Springtime for Hitlet chorusboy. So we'll see.

He is quite dreamy to be sure. ::sigh::

A day without cashmere or silk/cashmere is a rough day indeed.

Hey, my horoscope for today? or yesterday...

Pisces: You’re on the verge of something that could alter the scope and direction of your personal and professional lives. You can feel the anticipation even if you’re still in the dark about what lies ahead. You can’t help but enjoy the expectancy, particularly since you sense that upcoming change will be liberating and luscious.

An-ti-cip-aaaaaaaaation and luscious!!! How cool is that? :P
