If a picture paints a thousand words, then why can't I paint you?

IF one were a man of a certain age who is seriously considering a move to Chicago, and
IF one had lived there before, but many years ago when one wasn't necessarily a practicing homosexualist (tm), and
IF one were considering a 4-5 day scouting foray there to test the personal and professional waters, then
WHERE should one stay to get the best gay Chicago has to offer, and
WHERE might one go to meet and greet men of similar age and interests? (READ: Where should a not so young anymore dude go to get his gay on?)

Now this could only happen to a guy like me
And only happen in a town like this
And so I say to each of you most gratefully
As I throw each one of you a kiss

This is my kind of town, Chicago is
My kind of town, Chicago is
My kind of people too
People who, smile at you ...

Oh stop looking at me like that, Mikey, how the hell do you expect me to answer you a question like that. I just know the bloody song, m'kay. Try not to interrupt me again.

...And each time I roam, Chicago is
Calling me home, Chicago is
One town that won't let you down
It's my kind of town

My kind of town, Chicago is
My kind of town, Chicago is
My kind of razzmatazz
And it has, all that jazz

And each time I leave, Chicago is
Tuggin' my sleeve, Chicago is
The Wrigley Building, Chicago is
The Chicago Cubbies, Chicago is
One town that won't let you down
It's my kind of town

Ummmm, if you me Where should a not so young anymore dude go to get his gay on?, you just know that I am gunna say Sydney. Right?

The above link is for a BEST WESTERN on Broadway; you'd be pretty much in Boystown gayborhood. (Please note; it ain't tea at THE DRAKE, sweetie darling)

I've not been up that way (Northside) in years; I do know that SIDETRACK:

is THE bar for meeting/fun & games.

Okay..sue me: the damn link doesn't work now: But it's the BEST WESTERN/Hawthorne Terrace located on Broadway.

Now if one were interested in seeing/shopping the Magnificent Mile...Check out The Talbott

http://www.talbotthotel.com/flash_content/index.html

for a smallish, old-world Hotel in the heart of the Gold Coast. A stone's toss from Bloomingdale's. Need I say more?

How excitement! Ohio's (potential) loss is Illinois' (potential) gain. Mr Michael, this sounds like a grand idea to me. Ohio doesn't deserve you.

Trendy trav'lers tend to talk
Of London, Paris, Rome, New York,
Like only they were stylish and unique.
But out in the Midwest
Is the city I love the best:
A town so smart it's spelling starts
With: C - H - I - C...Chic!

Chicago, Illinois, is like a shiny toy.
The prairie State is proud to state
That it's its pride and joy.

Bodhi, love when you serenade me. I wasn't interrupting, just coming up for air. I know. Sydney. That's like the ultimate PIPEDREAM.

MG, thanks for the skinny. The Talbott, I think. Check out some work possibilities, see "Wicked", shopping, shopping, shopping, and then the art museum. What have I missed? Oh yeah, have I mentioned it's been a long time for me? Add 'random hookup' even if that requires 'beer goggles' to facilitate. Does that make me a slut?

Andrew, is it vain if I don't argue. I've been over Ohio and the whole 'putting Bush back into office' and 'constitutionally banning gay marriage even though it's against the law already' and 'using gay adoption to win the governor's race' thing. Then there's the whole 'I can't live an authentic life while performing all manner of depravity on someone worthy' here. Have I mentioned I had a really long day?

Really long day = doubleplusungood :-(

Nothing that can't be improved by a beverage and 'one off the wrist' I hope.

Chicago sounds like a groovy place from what I hear. Home of Oprah, right? A "toddlin' town" and all that.
