Smoke gets in your eyes

I'll just come right out and say it. I'd like to be George Clooney's baby mamma. Wait, wait! Let me explain. I'm not some suburban matronly type who's been swooning over him lo these many years. I've always thought he was a passable actor and a very charming guy, but after seeing his movie Good Night And Good Luck last weekend, I want to devote my life to pleasing him. It's a bit of genius in my opinion, and having no genius of my own, it's been a pipedream of mine to glom off someone else's and bask in its reflected glory. OK, it's not a MLK kinda dream, but it's mine and who are you to judge? Have y'all seen this flick? Wonderful. I love the way it was shot. The performances are great, including George's. And he co-wrote AND directed it. Plus, could it be more timely with the whole Bush administration 'surveillance' brouhaha that's brouhahaing? I still favor Brokeback Mountain for the Best Picture, but this movie definitely gets the prize for the SMOKIEST film I've seen in this or any year.

The McCarthy story was before my time, but my dad was telling me about it - and like many have been saying, it sure is relevant to today.

I love this quote:

"We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason if we remember that we are not descended from fearful men, not from men who feared to write, to speak, to associate and to defend causes which were, for the moment, unpopular."

I am dying to see this movie. Looks like a really interesting one, and I'm always searching for more good movies.

Also, George Clooney has always been on the top of my list of tall, dark, charasmatic and sexy.

I wanted to see all of the nominated movies by the Oscars (my favorite night of tv EVER...don't think that's going to happen in time. I've gotten through some, but there's just too many.

Capote isn't coming out until March. :( That's on my netflix list right behind Good Night.

Let the record show that the McCarthy hearings were before my time as well, Maddie! That's a great quote you pulled and defines the movie. It's a big part of why there are so many parallels with today. There's the whole surveillance thing, but also the environment of fear when any questioning of the government is considered unpatriotic.
As it happens, I've seen all the nominated films except "Crash" and I think it's out on video, so I might have to check it out. PS-- I feel confident that you're going to LOVE "Capote". PSH is da shit.

Oh, goodness! I wasn't implying that they weren't before your time! :)

Crash is on my netflix list too. I think it is out now. I keep seeing more clips of Capote and am fascinated. Can't wait. PSH is AWESOME. It may be my undying love for all J.J. Abrahms does, but PSH looks so perfect for the choice of bad guy in the new Mission Impossible 3. Have you seen the preview? As much as I dislike Tom Cruise right now, those movies are good, and JJ will make them better.

Ok...enough rambling about movies (I could literally go on forever), back to WORK.

I've always like Clooney, he's one of those guys that seems so likeable off screen too. Funny, doesn't take himself, or fame, too seriously. I really like the film "Solaris", and he's very sexy in that. Maybe it's the astronaut suit? Who can say?
