There's music in the air and lots of lovin' everywhere

This is my current background screen at work. Love this shot from outside the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. Inside each column is a statue of a famous Florentine. At least I think they are all Florentines. I have a favorite photo of ME standing under Michelangelo. Anyway, it's perty, ain't it?

It's gorgeous, darling. Did you take it?

(And omg do you have that George Benson mp3?)

It is gorgeous. Not mine, though. The Michelangelo figure is only a few hundred steps away from this perspective. Also, I was practically in the same spot when I was hit up, auf Deutsch, to donate to some obscure, most likely bogus, charity. It's funny, there were a few times when people would solicit for money and they would approach my friend Ron in English, but me in German. Was it the blue eyes or the faint odour of sauerkraut and stale beer?

Oh, and sorry, no George for you.

It's pretty and all but it just all needs to be sprayed gold with some Versace medusa heads here and there. That would gussie it up a bit. Antiquities are, like--so old and stuff.

Ah, Firenze. If I ever truly disappear you can find me there.

But on a hot summer day, Michael, this gallery is gilt with olive-skinned Mediterranean men with penetrating eyes. Better?

You're preachin' to the choir, Charlie. It's one of those places that just felt like home so much it almost makes me believe in past lives. Love. It.

Howdies. Stopped by here from Freakgirl's site. Great pictures.

I hate to quibble, and you probably know this, but the statue of David near the uffizi is a replica, thought that is, apparently, where the original was placed.

Speaking of Firenze, have you ever been to the secret corridor at the Medici chapel?

Hey, Chips, welcome! Yeah, I did know that about the David. I went to see the real deal at the Gallerie dell'Accademie. You know it's gonna be good, but it's still stunning. I only learned after the fact that the Gates of Heaven doors at the Baptistry are replicas as well. I've never heard of the Medici chapel secret corridor. What gives? ANOTHER reason for me to go back, right?
